Chanakya was thrown out of Pataliputra and spent years poor before finally putting Chandragupta on the throne of Magadha. His advice from that time was never to just wait it out: look honestly at what went wrong, learn from it, change your strategy, and keep moving. A defeat isn't a sign to stop.
