30-Day Bhagavad Gita Study
Conflict of Duties
Day 6
When Dharma Conflicts
“Even the wise act according to their own nature. Beings follow their nature. What can restraint do?”
— BG 3.33
The Gita does not pretend that conflicts between duties are easy to solve. Arjuna's situation, loyalty to his family against his duty as a warrior in a just war, is a real moral problem with no clean answer. The Gita does not say one duty always wins over the other. What matters is how clearly and honestly you look at the conflict.
Reflection
Where do two genuine duties in your life currently conflict? How are you handling the conflict right now?
Today's Practice
Choose the most pressing dharma conflict in your life. Write out both sides — without judging either one — for ten minutes.
