Day 5
Svadharma — Your Own Path
“Better is one's own dharma, though imperfectly performed, than the dharma of another well performed. It is better to die in one's own dharma; the dharma of another is fraught with danger.”
— BG 3.35
This is one of the most misunderstood lines in the Gita. It does not mean 'do whatever you feel like.' It means that living honestly and true to your own nature is worth more than doing a brilliant job pretending to be someone else. Copying another person's path, even a path done well, will always be a lesser thing than living your own, however imperfectly.
Where in your life are you most clearly living from your own nature — and where are you most clearly performing someone else's role?
List two things you do that feel most like yourself, and two that feel most like what is expected. Notice the difference.
