30-Day Bhagavad Gita Study
Ego and Doership

Day 13

Not the Doer

The person of self-realisation knows that while seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, moving, sleeping, or breathing, they personally are not doing anything.

BG 5.8

Chapter 5 draws an important line. A free person still acts, often more effectively than before, but does not claim personal ownership of the action. This is not about dodging responsibility. It is about seeing clearly how action actually happens and moves through us.

Reflection

When you take credit or blame for something, how much of the actual chain of causation did you personally control?

Today's Practice

Today, catch yourself saying or thinking 'I did that.' Pause and ask: what else contributed to that outcome?
