30-Day Bhagavad Gita Study
Dhyana
Day 14
The Yoga of Meditation
“The mind is restless and difficult to restrain, O Arjuna, but it can be controlled by constant practice and detachment.”
— BG 6.35
Chapter 6 is the Gita's chapter on meditation. Krishna describes what you need: a quiet place, a steady seat, a balanced life. And he describes the goal: a mind that rests in the self, undisturbed by pleasure or pain. Then Arjuna says what many of us think: this sounds impossible.
Reflection
In your attempts to meditate or be still, what do you do with the mind's constant movement? Do you fight it, follow it, or return?
Today's Practice
Sit for ten minutes. Every time the mind wanders, simply return without self-judgment. Count the returns as successes, not failures.
