Hanuman Strength Challenge
Discipline

Day 7

The Discipline of Speech

Hanuman's speech to Sita in the ashoka grove had to be exactly right. If he said the wrong thing, or she didn't believe him, the whole mission failed. So he chose every word with care. He introduced himself in a way she could trust. He didn't exaggerate, and he didn't hold back what needed saying. In the Ramayana, careful speech matters as much as physical strength.

Reflection

When does your speech most often fail you — when you overpromise, speak impulsively, or fail to say the necessary hard thing? What is one situation this week where more disciplined speech would help?

Today's Practice

Today, before any important conversation, pause for three breaths. In that pause, ask: what is necessary to say here, and what is better held?
