Daily Gita Guidance
Self-Knowledge
Day 23
Honest Self-Knowledge
“Absence of pride, absence of deceit, non-violence, forbearance, sincerity — these are declared to be knowledge.”
— BG 13.8
Krishna's list of what counts as real knowledge starts with "no pride, no deceit" — not insight or experience. What blocks self-knowledge isn't a lack of information. It's the need to keep up a certain image of yourself. Honest self-knowledge begins the moment you drop the act.
Reflection
What is the one thing about yourself that you most carefully avoid seeing — the thing you sense but pull back from when it comes close?
Today's Practice
Write three things that are genuinely true about you that you don't usually say out loud. Read them back to yourself.
