30-Day Bhagavad Gita Study
Types of Knowledge
Day 26
The Three Kinds of Knowledge
“That knowledge by which one sees the one undivided reality in all diverse beings — know that knowledge to be in the mode of goodness.”
— BG 18.20
Chapter 18 applies the guna framework to knowledge, action, doer, intellect, and determination. Sattvic knowledge sees the one in the many; rajasic knowledge sees only diversity; tamasic knowledge mistakes a part for the whole and mistakes something false for reality.
Reflection
Where in your life are you most certain about something? Is that certainty sattvic — aware of what it does not know — or tamasic — closed?
Today's Practice
Choose one strong opinion you hold. Spend five minutes genuinely steelmanning the opposite position.
