30-Day Bhagavad Gita Study
Practice and Death

Day 16

What We Hold at Death

Therefore, always think of Me and fight. With mind and intelligence fixed on Me, you will come to Me without doubt.

BG 8.7

Chapter 8 deals with what never perishes, the Brahman, meaning the ultimate reality underneath all existence. Krishna's teaching about death is less about what happens afterward and more about what you must practice beforehand: steadily turning your mind toward what is eternal instead of what is temporary.

Reflection

What are you cultivating right now in your daily life — through your habits, your attention, your practice — that will be there in the final moment?

Today's Practice

Before sleep tonight, spend five minutes directing your mind consciously toward what you most deeply value. Do nothing else.
