Arjuna's Crisis
“My limbs fail and my mouth is parched; my body quivers and my hair stands on end. My bow slips from my hand; my skin burns; I am unable to stand.”
— BG 1.28
The Gita does not start with God speaking. It starts with a man falling apart. Arjuna is the greatest archer of his time. But when he sees his teachers, family, and friends standing on the other side, ready for battle, he loses the will to fight. His body gives out. He sits down in his chariot and weeps.
